Turkey Hill Experience

Sharing is caring!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Turkey Hill Dairy. All opinions are my own.

Raise your hand if you have ever lived with a 12 year-old boy.

I think it’s safe to assume that the majority of 12 year-old boys have a few things in common: they like to eat, not too much gets them to exclaim in excitement anymore and they always like to play it cool.

I was able to attack all 3 of those on a recent Saturday afternoon in one fell swoop.

Earlier in the week, I mentioned to my daughter that we would be visiting The Turkey Hill Experience that weekend and making our own ice cream.  She was excited, but from the other room we heard a squeal.  Hand on the Bible, I swear the boy squealed.  For the next 5 days, he asked me repeatedly if we really were going to make our own ice cream.

Remember when your kids were toddlers and you didn’t let them know about exciting things until the day of the event, because you didn’t want to talk about it constantly for weeks leading up to it??  Apparently the same concept goes for 12 year-old boys and the Turkey Hill Experience!   I was getting a bit nervous that he was building it up so much and would end up disappointed!

But no worries!! As soon as we got in the car to drive home, he happily announced that it was even better than he imagined!!  Seriously, whatever you folks behind the scenes did to create this place… color me impressed!

The Turkey Hill Experience is located in Lancaster County PA and is filled with family-friendly exhibits and activities that showcase how the Dairy makes its popular ice cream and iced tea.  The place is jam-packed with hands-on activities for the kids where they can milk a cow, “drive” a delivery truck, sample unlimited ice cream and iced tea, play in a ball pit and slide, mix and match ice cream flavors and create a commercial featuring their own ice cream that they designed!

The visit then wraps up in the Taste Lab!  Think dreams come true…

This was AMAZING!  We were given a cup of vanilla ice cream that you can then flavor  and add stir-ins and it was SO good!

My kids filled it up with crushed cookies, gummy bears and more of their favorites, but mine beat theirs hands-down.  I made a lemon ice cream with strawberry swirl and then added chopped pecans and graham cracker crumbs! It was so ridiculous and Turkey Hill should make it an official flavor now!  The serving size was so huge that I ended up taking it home and ate it for the next 3 nights as dessert!

They ate so much ice cream, that I think their brains froze up and stopped working.  Honestly, somebody explain to me why they didn’t just switch places??

The entire place is colorful and exciting and the DIY-er in me appreciated all the small touches too. Like the milk jug light fixtures!  LOVE!

Definitely a place worthy of a road trip for the day!
