Tradewinds Island Resort in St. Pete, Florida is a family-friendly resort that is jam-packed with on-site amenities! From multiple dining options to water sports, pools, and beach activities, there is something fun for every age group without ever having to leave the resort property!
We were invited as guests of RumFish Beach Resort but all opinions are 100% my own.
Yesterday I gave you guys an insiders look at the rooms and family suites at RumFish Beach Resort, but today I wanted to share everything there is to do on-site once you leave your room. And even though I know it’s hard to leave the comfort of those gorgeous rooms (and balconies!!), trust me, it’s worth it once you start exploring!
TradeWinds Island Resorts
RumFish Beach Resort is actually part of the TradeWinds Island Resorts property which also includes TradeWinds Island Grand.
When I was first arranging our trip, it was mentioned that we could use amenities at both resorts regardless of which one we were staying at. I appreciated that, but didn’t really think we would actually act on it. We’ve stayed at resorts before where we were told we could use a sister property, and it was never convenient or seemed worth it.
I WAS SO WRONG!! These two resorts could not be more convenient to each other and we walked back and forth between them multiple times a day! It was about 200 steps across a gorgeous, white sand beach and you had your pick of resorts.
When you check in, you’re given a pamphlet with lots of information on the on-site amenities and activities. Read it.
Do not shove that thing in the bottom of your bag and forget about! You will be kicking yourself for missing all the fun!
Family Activities and Amenities at RumFish Beach Resort
Pools and Hot Tubs
Between the two resorts, there are 7 swimming pools for you to enjoy! And that’s not the best part of it… they’re heated, they’re handicap-accessible and some of them have hot tubs adjoining them.
And the resorts are so large, that even after spending 4 days there, we were only able to find 5 of the pools!
Most likely because we kept stopping at every pool we found because we were enjoying ourselves so much! But they were never crowded and you were always able to find empty lounge chairs around them.
Water Activities
If you’re more of an open water person than a contained pool, no worries…. TradeWinds Resorts have you covered there too!
With the Gulf of Mexico as the backdrop, you can find all kinds of activities from just surfing the waves to jet skiis, soaring on a Jetlev, fishing, paddleboards and more! There’s even an almost 16,000 square foot floating ocean water park!
There’s an activities cabana to visit to coordinate all of your plans during your stay. Some of the activities are dependent on how rough the water is that day, but we found plenty to keep us busy even though they weren’t able to put the water park out during our stay.
Beach Activities
If you’re more into keeping your feet planted in the sand, you’re also in luck. In fact, that’s kind of the recurring theme here… you’re in luck no matter what kind of activity you prefer because these resorts have it all!
My teens spent plenty of time on the inflatable slide. It’s 3 stories tall and we saw young kids on up to adults having a blast on it!
There are inflatable surfboards you can ride, s’mores on the sand in the evenings, corn hold boards, live music, open fire tables and 550+ cabanas between the two resorts if your go-to beach activity is reading a book and relaxing (here, here!).
Rainy Day Activities
Like most of Florida, when it rains, it is very short-lived. The sun will most likely be out quickly, but TradeWinds Resorts have you covered in case you need to keep those kids busy while you wait out the storm.
For younger kids, they have a KONK Club with all kinds of activities to keep them busy from crafts to adventure clubs to science clubs and more!
You can also visit touch tank and turtle talk at RumFish Beach Resort during certain times each day.
For adults, the spa is not a bad way to spend a couple of hours on a rainy day!
Additional Activities
There’s no way I could possibly list all of the activities offered at the 2 TradeWinds Resorts in one article! With over 200 ideas for activities, we promise you will find something you’ll enjoy!
Our family particularly loved the paddleboats while another family we met spent quite a bit of time on the tennis courts. Later, we talked to another couple while we listened to live music who mentioned enjoying the afternoon at the adults-only pool… something we never even found!
With 25 acres between the 2 resorts, you could spend a week and still not have a chance to do everything!
On-Site Dining
Of course, I can’t mention amenities without giving a shout-out to all of the on-site dining options! Since we were visiting from freezing cold Pennsylvania, we were all about the outside dining options during our visit.
I am still dreaming about the shrimp on a skewer… even after ordering it twice in 3 days!
There are 14 restaurants and bars between the two resorts with plenty of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and evening drinks!
