Please tell me I’m not the only one who walks into my house after a day of errands to find a half-eaten apple on a plate that has quite obviously been sitting there all day. Or a kitchen counter mess of fruit peels, stray juice puddles and a knife that makes my heart stop beating for a second. When DOLE Jarred Fruit asked me to work with them on this campaign and promised a solution to the wasted fruit and messes, my enthusiastic YES could be heard the next town over.
I love that my daughter adores her fruit and gravitates towards healthy breakfasts and snacks. But she also has a small appetite. The amount of fruit wasted (and the threat of ants because of her inability to ever clean up!) is enough to make a grown woman cry!
So we’ve been working together to come up with ways she can still get her fruit fix, enjoy healthy snacks and I can quit crying. This peach and banana smoothie has been a home run!
A Peach Perfect Treat
We found at our local grocery store right with the rest of the regular fruit. And just like that, I no longer have to worry about her cutting fruit and hurting herself. Or running late because she spent too much time peeling fruit or wasting the other half of a peach because she has the appetite of a bird. She just takes what she needs from the jar, screws the lid back on, pops it in the fridge and it’s ready to go for her next snack.
It’s been working perfectly for us! Well, for her, because I barely have to do anything aside from asking if she can make one for me too! 😉 It takes her just a few minutes to make this peach and banana smoothing. But be warned, she’ll talk for muuuuch longer about how good it is. Nothing quite as satisfying as creating healthy, delicious snacks that are as easy as 1-2-3
Peach and Banana Smoothie Recipe
Peach Banana Smoothie
We use DOLE Jarred Fruit so we didn’t have to worry about wasting half a peach! Makes measurements much easier!
- 1 cup DOLE Jarred Fruit Sliced Peaches
- 2 bananas
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 cups ice
- Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
Why We Love DOLE Fruit
The comes in 5 different varieties, but she is a peach lover, so there was no real question for this shopping trip. I’m heading back for the pineapple, though, so I can pretend I’m on a beach with a pineapple smoothie! They also have mandarin oranges, tropical fruit, and mixed fruit and it’s pretty safe for me to assume she would eat these every single day for her packed lunch with nothing but a spoon and a smile!
Each jar contains 5 servings of fruit and at a suggested retail price of only $2.99. That’s only 60 cents per serving! Seriously, now the frugal mama in me wants to weep with joy! 60 cents for a snack that’s naturally fat-free and cholesterol-free. Yes, darling, you can most certainly have some more DOLE Jarred Fruit!
