Before I even start to write about how to clean shoes, I should probably go ahead and shout it from the rooftops, that I’m not exactly an authority on this subject.
I’d much prefer to fill my days with painting and baking (okay, and maybe a little reading thrown in too) than doing laundry and scrubbing toilets. That being said, when I do devote time to cleaning, I like to make sure I’m doing it in the most efficient way possible!
And that my friends, is how the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and I became BFFs. And probably the only time you’ll ever hear me use that term, but I do mean it. I truly do! He’s a faithful, little friend who never lets me down and possesses some of my favorite traits: economical, productive, efficient, chemical-free and doesn’t take up much space!
I try to be super-selective when I accept sponsored posts, because I want it to be a topic or product that relates to my normal posts and brings value to all you wonderful readers. But I know from hanging out with you guys for the past 5 years, that there are lots of little kids and outdoor activities that fill up your days as well!
So today, I thought I’d share my secret to removing scuffs and grass stains from shoes. This way, you can let them be kids and enjoy as many outdoor activities as they would like, but you as the parent can breathe easy because you know you can bring those shoes back to life later!
We can take them from the shoe on the left, straight to the shoe on the right with minimal effort!
And, yes, it brings us full circle to my BFF, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! Just wet it with some water and spend a minute or two scrubbing and your shoes will be sparkling!
Honestly, it is that easy! It feels a bit anticlimactic, right?? I promise you, when you see your sparkling shoe that looks brand new, it will be exciting!!
Here is my daughter’s shoe that we started out with:
About 2 minutes later, I had this beauty just from water, my Magic Eraser and little light scrubbing!
Let me tell you another little secret…if you’re looking for a way to get your young kids involved in chores, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is the answer to your prayers.
I’ve been in your shoes. I remember the days when my little 3 year-old wanted to help clean, but I was too nervous to have him around spray cleaners. I remember vividly when my 5 year-old daughter thought she was being helpful and sprayed about half a bottles worth of cleaner on one table.
Parents, listen up!! Hand them a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! There are no chemicals (only water is needed), the little details like the size and grippers make it perfect for their little hands, and it gets the job done with little effort!
And as they grow older, they will know exactly where to turn to in order to keep their belongings clean. These were my son’s shoes this morning.
This kid has always been a little OCD with all of his belongings. He likes things neat and orderly, and absolutely no scuff marks. I kid you not, this 14 year-old boy keeps his own stash of Magic Erasers in his bathroom vanity.
I asked him to clean them up for me, so I could get a picture and he was more than happy to oblige! This is all his work cleaning his own shoes!
Some other ways we use our Mr. Clean Magic Erasers (and the reason we buy them in bulk!):
- remove coffee or tea rings out of mugs
- clean sticky residue from a price tag that was removed
- remove dry paint off hinges or floors
- remove scuff marks from baseboards and trim
- clean splatters in the microwave
- clean the faces on dolls
- Use in vehicles to wipe up spills
- soap scum in showers and sinks
- wipe toothpaste splatters on mirrors
- crayon marks on walls
- clean white cabinet doors
- wipe down refrigerator shelves
- remove residual marks on dry-erase boards
- clean faucets
- remove dark spots on light colored carpet
- remove marks on leather purses or chairs
- clean fingerprints or your dog’s nose mark from the windows
- remove cooked-on stains from the bottoms of pans
- and SO MANY MORE!!
It’s safe on so many surfaces since it just uses water-activated micro scrubbers and no harsh chemicals. The cleaning power in this one tiny sponge is amazing!
And one of my favorite things about the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers?? They’re inexpensive!! I love an inexpensive and easy hack to be able to make old things look new.
Magic Erasers only cost about $1 each (and only about 80 cents each if you buy them in bulk at Costco like I always do)! That’s sooo much cheaper than having to buy new shoes, because your kid’s are starting to look ratty! Just use your Magic Eraser to get rid of all that grime and reveal the clean shoe underneath!
