More than most people, I am such a proponent of home-cooked food and special traditions for the holidays. These ham cheese sliders that I partnered with Smithfield to create, not only check both of those boxes off, but they also do double-duty and cover two meals!
There are enough things that we need to worry about over the holidays- scheduling get-togethers, buying gifts, wrapping all those gifts, sending cards, keeping up with Advent calendars, decorating gingerbread houses and on and on and on. Trust me, I’m right there with you when you tell me those lists can get overwhelming.
But I’ve also found ways to eliminate some of your prep work while still keeping the holiday traditions and special meals that your family enjoys.
If you’re a regular reader around here, it’s no secret that I’m big on cooking once and eating twice. Most of the people who roll their eyes at the word “leftovers” are doing so because their idea of leftovers is to just heat it up and eat it the same way you did the first time.
Nope, not happening around here. Reinvent those leftovers, people! It’s like eating a brand new meal, but you only had to cook once!
A Smithfield Signature Spiral Sliced Ham is the perfect addition to your holiday table. Not just because it looks gorgeous as the centerpiece of your meal, but because it’s less prep time for the chef. It’s as simple as placing in a 275 degree oven and baking for 10-12 minutes per pound. You can spread the provided glaze over at the end or just eat it as is. It’s already sliced, so even that time-consuming task is eliminated. Check out just how easy it is to bake a ham!
It quite honestly could not be any less involved or tedious for the chef! Plus, it leads to these gorgeous ham cheese sliders!
This is one of my favorite ways to use up holiday leftovers! This recipe is for a full 13×9 pan, but you can easily modify to make a smaller batch based on how many dinner rolls or cranberry sauce you have left. It’s really so delicious and makes me want to buy a Smithfield ham even more often just so I can make these sandwiches the next day!
We’ve served them for lunch, dinner or as appetizers for a party. Either way, they’re gobbled up quickly and you’re sure to be asked for the recipe!

- 2 tbsp. parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp. minced garlic
- 2 tsp. Italian seasoning
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Cut your rolls in half and layer bottom halves in a greased 13×9 pan.
- Top with half of the cheese. Spread ham over cheese and then spoon the cranberry sauce over the ham. Top with remaining cheese and top halves of the rolls.
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the parmesan cheese, garlic and Italian seasoning. Brush over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 15 minutes.
