Facelift for my Fridge!

Sharing is caring!

Yesterday morning, this is what my sad little refrigerator looked like:

Any eagle eyes out there see anything creepy??

Haha!! I could look at this picture every day!  A couple years ago, my sister had a Coraline party for my niece and made these magnets as favors.  My little girl has that translucent blond hair that makes this picture extra creepy… as if the button eyes weren’t enough!

But back to my sad, little fridge.

I was wanting more of an organized look to it and, as always, some pops of color.  So I raided my stash and came up with some small frames that I’ve picked up through the years.

I also found an IKEA frame that I had bought for $1 a couple years ago and then never used.

I painted them all and then had these magnets laying around that my father-in-law had gotten for me out of the trash (his retirement job is a janitor at a bank and those people throw away some gems!!).  I cut the magnets into strips to line up with the backs of my frames.

I just hot glued the magnets onto the backs of the frames. I made sure to only glue onto the wood and leave the openings clear so that I can change my pictures out if I ever want to.  I suggest finding frames that have a pretty good wooden lip so you have a nice chunk of magnet to support the weight.

Then came the fun part- seeing if it worked!

I LOVE IT!!!

In the IKEA frame, I put the kids’ school lunch menu.  I let my kids buy lunch once a week and this is perfect, because the acrylic front is light enough for the magnets, but it works as a dry erase board.  So at the beginning of the month, they can put a letter on the day each week that they want to buy! (I did it this time so I could get my picture for you guys, but they already came home and changed all my days!)

It’s exactly what I was envisioning and I’m so much happier now that all the clutter is gone! I have a step 2 to this project that I’m going to go work on now, so I’ll have to show you that later, but I was too excited to wait to post this!

Since I had everything laying around, it cost me absolutely nothing to throw together.  I’m guessing I paid around $3 for the frames through the years, though!

It is just SO me!

So cute! Pinning it right now! One question: if I clean up my fridge, where do I put all my ugly to-do lists and school papers :P
