What is a Baking Subscription Box?
Baking subscriptions are an upgrade on the store bought baking mixes and frozen pastry cups of yesteryear. With a baking subscription box, you get all the convenience of a pre-made mix or pastry, but with top shelf ingredients. And the end result is anything but run of the mill!
Month to month subscription baking kits typically include all the dry ingredients and decorations you need to make beautiful baked goods at home. Many also include any specialized baking tools, like cookie cutters, piping bags or decorating tips, you’ll need for the recipe. Recipe cards vary in their level of detail, from written cards to full-on videos.
Most baking subscriptions focus on helping you make a variety of desserts. You can expect to try making anything from a tarte to a cookie to a mouse or a cake. That said, some kits are more niche. For example, Breadista is all about making beautiful loaves of bread at home. Homemade Cookie Crate is all about cookies. And some subscriptions are tailored towards getting your kids baking.
Whatever kind of kit you choose, they all have something in common: you’ll end up with a home baked and delicious treat each and every month!
Best Baking Boxes and Baking Subscriptions for Every Type of Baker
Baking Fun
The Baking Fun Box lets you bake 2 Pinterest worthy desserts each month

I love the concept behind the Baking Fun box – helping you create 2 delicious Pinterest worthy desserts every month.
I mean seriously, who hasn’t experienced a Pinterest fail???
If whipping up some seriously gourmet desserts without breaking a sweat sounds like your jam, this is a great kit. Each month, you’ll get two separate baking kits: each of which you’ll use to create a dessert.
I absolutely love that it’s two different kits and two different desserts. You can space it out throughout the month, and have something to look forward to. Alternatively you can make both for a special occasion or when you’re entertaining!
Each kit has all the pre-measured gourmet ingredients, although you will need to contribute your own eggs. It also includes a recipe card to follow.
Past desserts have included Chai Spice Bundt Cake, Maple Pecan Cupcakes. Flourless Chocolate Cake, Red Velvet Cupcakes with Cream Cheese, Lemon Cupcakes, and Matcha Swirl Cookies.
YUM!
Ships within the United States only, and your first month subscription automatically renews. Expect to receive your box on the first Thursday of every month. Free Shipping.
Mix Box by Homemade Bakers
The Mix Box lets you make 1 full size dessert each month

This box includes all the fixings to make one full-sized dessert each month. Each month is 12 to 30 portions per dessert.
Each box comes with pre-measured and quality ingredients, with easy to follow instructions. Past boxes include a wide range of styles and flavors, ensuring nice variety each month! Examples include Pecan Pumpkin Spice Squares, Caramel Apple Poke Cake, Blueberry Scones, S’mores Brownies, Chocolate Ganache Peanut Butter Cupcakes, and Strawberry Almond Tea Cake.
One thing I love about this box is the monthly swap option. If you don’t like the recipe of the month for whatever reason, you can swap it for cinnamon buns. Personally, I hate banana. I love the idea that I could have swapped out the Nutella Swirl Banana Muffins and made Cinnamon Buns instead.
Free shipping across the United States, with boxes shipping out between the 1st and 7th of every month.
Bake Eat Love Baking Subscription
The Bake Eat Love Box lets you make one dessert of 12 to 20 servings each month.

Each month, this subscription sends you all the non-perishable ingredients and instructions to make one awesome dessert (12 to 20 servings).
One thing I love about this box is it includes written instructions and video tutorials. This makes it even more fail proof!
Boxes also include some sort of special gift kitchen tool. Items like a lemon zester or a piping bag and tip help complete your stable of essential baking gadgets.
Each recipe also contains a specialty ingredient. This is a nice way to practice using unique flavors in your baked goods.
Examples of some of the desserts you can expect to make include Cherry Pie Cupcakes with Vanilla Bean Frosting, Homemade Mint Ice Cream and Brownie Trifles, Chai Tea Latte Cupcakes, Maple Pecan Mini Cakes and Caramel Apple Cupcakes.
Good for all experience levels and ages, although kids will of course need supervision or help, depending on their age.
Boxes ship between the 21st and 24th of each month, and shipping is free. USA only.
Culture Cakes Kit
This subscription sends you themed snacks + hard to find ingredients.

This is a super cute idea for a baking subscription box – especially these days, when international travel is harder.
Each month has a different country or regional theme (i.e. Germany, Saudi Arabia, Caribbean). Inside the box, you’ll find a selection of snacks from the country. You’ll also get a recipe to make a “cultural fusion cupcake” related to the region.
This isn’t like the other baking kits on this list. It doesn’t include all the pre-measured ingredients to make the recipe. What you get is the recipe itself, plus the “exotic ingredients” needed to make it. You’ll still need your own flour, baking powder, etc. But the Culture Cakes kit will provide the hard to find ingredients. As an example, expect to receive hibiscus flower powder to make hibiscus flower cupcakes!
This is a really lovely wanderlust box that’s great for anyone who is curious about the world and its flavors. In addition to the snacks and recipe with selected ingredients, you’ll also get a baking tool.
Another really cool feature? Each kit includes a booklet to learn more about the country or region of the month. This is awesome for adults, but also a really nice touch to get kids interested!
Ships on the 4th of the month across the USA.
Fresh Baked Cookie Crate
This baking subscription lets you master cookie baking!

If baking boxes dedicated to all the desserts don’t do it for you, and you want to niche down, Fresh Baked Cookie Crate is a cookie only kinda experience. Each month, you’ll get a pack of all the portioned ingredients you need, and easy to follow instructions to make super create and gorgeous sweet treats – cookies way better than what you’d get out of store bought cookie mixes!
From Ruby Chocolate Chip Cookies to Brown Butter Snickerdoodle to Apple Pie Cookies to Carrot Cake Cookie Sandwiches, their baking mixes are super creative! You’ll also get some cookie themed gifts!
Great for adults and older kids – probably tween and above. Order before the end of the month to be included on the next month’s box. They ship within the USA only.
And if you’re inspired, check out my post about the best cookie of the month club!
Breadista Bread Baking Subscription
The Breadista subscription lets you bake gorgeous loaves and rolls at home.
Breadista prides itself on using high quality ingredients for high quality bread. Their kits let you to make delicious bread and rolls at home!
You’ll receive all the dry ingredients you need, pre-measured to make things super simple. For the most part, you’ll need to add water. Occasionally, recipes require other fairly basic wet ingredients, like butter, vinegar, buttermilk, or yogurt. Breadista recommends you have a Dutch Oven. However, they provide a work around if you don’t have one (and don’t want to get one).
Sign up for a 1-month, 3-month, or 6-month bread making subscription, or buy one-off kits. Each box also includes a bonus, including a yummy spread to use with your bread, and a kitchen tool.
The Innocent Baker (Canada Only)
The Innocent Baker box sends Canadians the fixings to make1 dessert per month.

Whereas the Baking Fun Box ships only within the United States, this one is for the Canadians!
Each month, you’ll receive all the dry and specialized ingredients you’ll need to make one dessert. Ingredients are pre-measured, and there’s an easy-to-follow recipe card that outlines the baking process and gets you on your way. You’ll need to add wet ingredients like eggs, but shelf-stable ingredients like oil are included.
In addition, this box includes “an essential baking tool,” which is a nice way to add to your baking tools.
Past desserts include mocha cookie butter babka, ruby cheesecake bites, and red velvet doughnuts.

Best Kids Baking Subscription Kits
Baketivity Kids Baking Kit
Baketivity sends you one kid-focused baking project per month.

Delivering kid-friendly bake boxes each month, Baketivity is all about spending time with your kids. It’s a great way to do something fun, while also helping them build up skills and learn something!
What I love about Baketivity is that it uses wholesome ingredients. They’re also certified Kosher and are made in a nut-free facility. Even though the ingredients are high quality, the actual baking projects are definitely tailored towards a kid’s palette. Project examples include Bug Cupcakes, Cake Pops, Funfetti Cupcakes, and Whoopie Pies are some examples.
I also love that the instructions are super clear, and include lots of pictures to help your kid follow along. The kits include activity suggestions to pass the time while your masterpiece is in the oven.
Finally, as really cute bonus item, you get an adorable chefs hat and apron for your little one to wear! (One Size Fits All)
You can really use this across a variety of kids ages. However, with younger kids you’ll need to be more involved.
Also awesome: Baketivity ships worldwide from the USA. Hooray for my international friends!
Whisk Takers
Whisk Takers has super simple to follow instructions for kid-focused projects or novice bakers

While anyone can enjoy this subscription, IMHO it’s really targeted towards less experienced bakers and kids. That’s because it has super simple to follow instructions and pre-measured ingredients.
One thing I love about Whisk Takers is how many subscription options you have. You can choose between their Chocolate Lovers or Nut Lovers subscriptions if you have strong taste preferences favoring either. If you want more variety, choose the Surprise Me box. Finally, if you have dietary restrictions, they offer a Gluten Free, a Nut Free, and a Vegan option!
This is a great project for tweens and teens, especially. At that age, they should be able to do all or most of the baking themselves. However, it’s also a really fun subscription for littles. Because all the ingredients are pre-measured, all they have to do is dump and stir. That means it can be fun for toddlers and up!
Past recipes include French Vanilla Maple Candy Corn Cupcakes, Double Chocolate Cookies, Hazelnut Chocolate Cupcakes, and S’Mores Brownies.
Free shipping across the United States, with boxes going out on the 15th of every month.
Food Stirs
Food Stirs takes the junk out of junk food with their kids baking projects.

Foodstirs is a self-declared junk free bakery. For parents who want to keep baking projects on the healthier side, this is a great choice. They use clean, USDA organic ingredients and fair trade chocolate, and are committed to lower sugar recipes and Glyphosate® Residue Free ingredients ( Glyphosate® is the world’s most used herbicide).
Despite this, they don’t compromise on taste. Even better? All their recipes are super kid friendly in terms of look and palette.
You can buy Foodstirs as one offs, or as a subscription. If you choose to join their subscription “bakers club,” you’ll get a kit sent to you every two months. Each kit will include one of their organic baking mixes as a base. They also come with chemical-free decorations and other key supplies to make the project.
Their kits ship around the 15th of the month, and you can see the schedule on their website.
Ani & Fabi (Canada)
This is a kid-focused baking subscription box for Canadians

This is another one of those only in Canada subscription boxes. Sorry USA!
Each month, Ani & Fabi deliver 2 dessert kits for you to bake up a storm. The kit includes pre-measured baking supplies and decorating tools, as well as a recipe card that’s easy to follow.
All the kits are curated around the theme, and use high quality included ingredients and sustainable packaging.

Kits ship to arrive at your house on the first Thursday of every month.
The recipes in Ani & Fabi kits aren’t for gourmet baking adults. They’re really skewed towards a kid’s palette, making them a fun activity for families to make homemade desserts, rather than getting ready for a more posh dinner party.
